Can God Use This Time In My Life?

These are strange days in which we are living! The ways in which we are living them out are largely determined by the seasons of life that we find ourselves in. I am struck by how God reveals things to us as we are able to understand them. It surely takes a lifetime; probably an eternity, to take us through the nooks and crannies of our own characters. We are all astoundingly ignorant about ourselves. We don’t know pride or laziness or envy when we see it! The only one who understands us is God. In times of aloneness with Him, He will reveal to us the depths of our unworthiness, and the greatness of His love and sufficiency. He uses affliction, heartbreak, temptation, disappointment and sickness to get us alone with Him. Then He will begin to to show us great and mighty things we did not know!

The call of God is for everyone. Whether or not I hear it depends on whether or not I am listening. It is in the closeness of my relationship with God that I hear His call. It is never urgent pleadings, rather, it is a still small voice. May we be listening for God’s voice. May we be responsive to His nudges, and may we find that each day offers us an incredible opportunity to know God better and to love Him more!
