Pass It On...God's name and fame

With the arrival of this little "sugar plum" a year and a half ago, God has been bringing to mind more often my mission of passing on the good news of Jesus' name and fame! With Emma at this stage, that looks like singing songs about God and Jesus, reading Bible picture books, talking about all the things God has made, praying with her, and telling her how much God loves her. I want her to hear of Him from her earliest days and recall prayer time as one of her first memories, just as I did, my children did, and generations before us!

For the high school girls I mentor, that looks like investing time, reading God's word together, worshiping together and sharing prayer requests. I encourage them with God's truth and what that means to them and I tell them personal stories of ways God has shown up and proven Himself faithful in my life.

For my family, that looks like praying Scripture prayers over each, reminders to keep our eyes on Jesus, and speaking praise in the midst of struggle. I must spend time basking in God's love and His Word if I desire for Him to make Himself known through me. I want to model what it means to engage others, speak encouragingly, and share a word or prayer about the HOPE that is mine wherever I find myself.

The following Scripture comes to mind as I ponder PASSING ON GOD'S NAME AND FAME...

"I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old— things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us. We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done... which he commanded our ancestors

to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds

but would keep his commands." Psalm 78:2-7

Lord give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand how to better "not hide", "tell", and "teach" Your praiseworthy deeds, so others will put their trust in You!
