Scriptural Prayers and New Beginnings

Genuine and authentic new beginnings always come out of the realization that there are things that need to change. It is with that in mind that we go to God in prayer today. The thoughts from the subsequent Scriptural prayers are taken from the following:

“Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Corinthians 11:28).

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Psalm 139:23-24)

ADULT PRAYER

Our Loving Heavenly Father, in Your Word you tell me to examine myself, but my life is full of sin that I cannot even see. My prayer is that You will thoroughly search my heart. Try me. Know my thoughts. See if there be any wicked way in me. May I acknowledge sin that You reveal to me and trust You to lead me forward in paths of righteousness. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. So be it!

PRAYER FOR THE YOUNG

Dear God, help me to understand the things that I do that are not pleasing to You. Thank you for wanting only the best for me. Help me learn to love the things You love and hate the things You hate. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

May these prayers and Scriptures bless your heart as well as those coming behind, the ones YOU are TEACHING HOW TO PRAY! What a joy it has been to be a part of modeling to Emma how to pray and praise and talk to God about all sorts of things throughout every day! She often busts out in a “Thank you God for our . . .” song as an overflow of her joyful little heart. Her jubilant praise is contagious and sanctifying!
