Welcoming God Into Each Day

As the first week of 2018 plays out, we can be sure of one thing. This new year will be full of surprises! May we walk into it with eyes that are seeing, with ears that are hearing, and with hearts that seek understanding. May we welcome each day, whether it brings joy or sorrow. Always, they come together. As we experience the greatest joy, there is always the sorrow of missing those we love who cannot share today with us. In days of sorrow there is the joy of friends who stand with us and bring encouragement. However, we soon discover that it takes both joy and sorrow to spur us forward in spiritual growth.

May we cherish each day, recognizing the uniqueness that each one holds, and accept them as they come. Whatever our age, whatever chapter of life we are living through, whatever our circumstances, each holds great meaning when we accept that these days were ordained by God. He is with us, strengthening us, helping us, and upholding us with His righteous right hand! He is faithful to us. May we be faithful to Him!

With each new year, there is always so much to be learned. I want to continue learning how to live each moment to the fullest, recognizing the fact that there is great treasure hidden right where I stand. May I live in THIS moment, not trying to live in the past or living for the future, but fully engaged in the unfolding wonder of the present. I want to cultivate an ever deeper sense of God's presence. I want to grow to know God better and to love Him more. I want to live with an ever stronger faith in Him, and with more love for others.

The daily choices I make will determine how these days are lived out. May praise and thanksgiving in all things mark all of my days. I have found that this determination of heart changes everything! I close with one of my favorite Scriptures:

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves."

Psalm 68: 19-20, NIV
