A Prayer for Spiritual Life

We find ourselves living today in a world that keeps us occupied and preoccupied with many things. At the same time, we often deal with boredom, with depression, with confusion, with resentment and with loneliness. Jesus came to offer us a new life; the life of the Spirit of God.

Growing up in a pastor's home, there was not a time in my life but that I thought of myself as God's child. However, when I was twelve years old I heard a sermon in which the pastor said that God has no grandchildren. He pointed out that just because we have parents or grandparents that belong to the family of God, that does not mean we are automatically God's children. None of us got to choose our parents, but each one of us must choose whether or not we want to be God's child. Each person must accept the gift of Spiritual rebirth for himself. I remember going home that night, kneeling beside my bed and telling God that if somehow I had never accepted His great gift of life, I wanted to accept it right then! I wanted to be born into God's family.

This is what marks the beginning of a new life, and as we begin to grow in it, as we begin to live it out, we discover to our joyful surprise that day by day all things are being made new. My mother wrote in her Bible, "The Christian life is the healthiest, happiest, most exciting, most rewarding life possible!" Here we include a prayer for Spiritual life that can bring this gift to you. Our book, The Unavoidable Choice is available on Amazon, and answers questions people have about what it means to be born of the Spirit.

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL LIFE

God, I admit that I'm not perfect and that I have sinned.

Many times, I have gone my own way instead of Your way.

Please forgive me for all of my sins,

Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the cross

to pay the penalty for my sins.

Come into my life and

make me the person You want me to be.

Thank You, Jesus, for what You will do

in me, to me, and through me.

In Your holy name, I pray. Amen.

If you were sincere in praying The Prayer for Spiritual Life, God promises you eternal life.

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life."

John 5:24
